Welcome to Trentvalley Riding School

Starting out

Each new client is asked to fill in a rider registration form prior to their first lesson. We encourage new clients to have a private lesson, so staff can evaluate the client's riding abilities. This is a chance for clients to explain past riding experience and any future riding targets. Over the years we have had many clients who are perhaps coming back to riding after a long break, a private lesson is an excellent way to get back into the saddle.

Ponies/horses

All the centre horses and ponies are well schooled and specially bought for their nature and performance.
The ponies are child friendly and have super temperaments for beginners just learning to ride, to our more experienced junior riders wishing to compete.
The large selection of horses covers a wide range of disciplines including show jumping, dressage, eventing and hunting. Many regularly compete both locally and nationally. We pride ourselves on the wide range of excellent horses available.

Group lessons

Trentvalley group lessons cover a wide range of activities; each session is prepared and tailored to our clients needs and abilities. The lesson type is changed weekly, ie) one week jumping (this may cover outdoor/indoor x-country or showjumpng) then dressage/ flat the following week.

Individual/small-group lessons

There is always the opportunity to have individual or small-group tuition - these are arranged individually to suit the client(s).

Recognition

Trentvalley encourages all its clients not only to learn and improve their equine knowledge and riding skills but to have the opportunity to compete and take appropriate qualifications. To support this, each lesson is delivered following a lesson plan created using BHS and ABRS criteria. During each lesson our experienced qualified staff will be assessing clients, and then work towards preparing each group for our optional exam days where clients can gain formal recognition of their progress if they so wish. Specific exam preparation sessions are also available.

Hacking out

We are very lucky to be sited in the Trent Valley only a 10 minutes ride from the beautiful River Trent and Southwell historic Minster town with its own nature trail and miles of bridle ways and tracks.  All trail rides/hacks are escorted and clients are assessed prior to any hacking.

Competitions

Many clients like to put their skills to the test by entering one of the several competitions that are held at Trentvalley.
Events range from monthly dressage competitions to inter team showjumping, all events are fun and encourage further riding experiences.

Clinics

For those wishing to improve their skills in a specific discipline there are clinics and training days held regularly through out the year.
